Ask God 4/17/2020
I woke up this morning thinking about the time when I was young, about ten-years-old. I asked my mother what book of the Bible should I read next? She said, "Ask God, He will tell you". So I asked God what should I read now? I was moved to read Genesis. You know, the Bible is the only Book that I know of that people ask where should I start reading? So I started reading Genesis the first book of the Bible. When I got to Chapter 4, the genealogy of Cain, I read the names of men begetting sons. I couldn't pronounce most of the names, especially in Chapter 5. I stopped reading after Chapter 5 and asked God why would You put all these names in the Bible? Then I remembered my mother saying, " Every word in the Bible is important, if they weren't God would not have written them down". So I said , "okay God these names are important. I don't understand them or how to pronounce them. But one day You will tell me their meaning.
About thirty years later He gave me the meaning of Chapters 4 and 5 of the Book of Genesis. I started listening to a Christian radio program called Jewish Perspective. A man named Gary Hedrick was explaining the meaning of the names in Genesis Chapter Five. At the end of the program, I ordered the tapes. What he did was he gave the meaning of each of the names in the generations of Adam, then the list of names puts a sentence together giving us a prophecy. Here it is.
Adam's name means man, and he begot Seth, who's name means appointed, and he begot Enosh, who's name means mortal, and he begot Kenan, who's name means habitation, body, or dwelling place. Kenan begot Mahalalel, who's name means blessed God, the word hallelujah comes from Mahalalel' s name. And he begot Jared, who's name means descend or shall come down. Jared begot Enoch, the first prophet, 'he walked with God, and he was not; for God took him', his name means, consecrate, teach. Enoch begot Methuselah, probably the longest living man. We do not have the ages of the generation of Cain in Chapter 4. But Methuselah was 969 years-old when he died, his name means, when I die than the flood, he begot Lamech. Lamech died at 777 years old. I put that in because the number 7 means perfect, and 777 that is the number of GOD. Man's number is 666. Anyway, Lamech's name means slave or captive. Scholar's aren't sure though of the name Lamech. And Lamech begot Noah, who's name means comfort.
Now here is what Gary Hedrick came up with: "Man is appointed a mortal habitation (body), but the blessed God shall come down teaching that his death shall bring the captives comfort."
Adam and Eve became mortals when he ate the fruit in the garden, Genesis 3:6. But Jesus would come down from heaven, fully God, fully a sinless man, He died but resurrected on the third day for sinful mortals. Bringing us comfort. Giving us a way to everlasting life in heaven with Him. The gift of life is free if you repent and ask Jesus to save you a sinner. Ask now, time is short.
