Creation vs. Evolution August 2001

When a person says they are a Christian but believes in the theory of evolution, they may want to think about what and who they believe in, because Biblically, the book of Genesis does not say anything about the Big Bang Theory. God says in Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Then God spoke and He said, "Let there be light". You don't see BANG! then there was light. The Bible doesn't say God spoke and an ape evolved into a caveman. Nowhere in the Old or New Testament does it speak of man evolving from an ape or fish.  In the Book of Job  30:5-6, it says, "They were driven forth among men, (they cried after them as a thief) to dwell in the cliffs of the valley, in the caves in the earth, and in the rocks." While there's no mention in the Bible of men coming from apes they did dwell in caves. The book of Job is an old book. Most scholars would say it was probably written before Abraham was born in the book of Genesis.

In Genesis 1:26, it says, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth"

God calls the man Adam, He made him from the ground, He breathes life into Adam, and he becomes a living soul, Genesis. 1:7.  Adam was not created from an ape.  Now in the Book of Luke, chapter 3:23-38, you see Jesus' geneology.  Jesus is now about thirty-years-old.  And it says,  "(being as was supposed) the son of Joseph, who was the son of Joseph, who was the son of Heli".  Heli was the father of Mary.  The genealogy will take you back to First Chronicles.  What's most interesting about Luke 3:23, it takes you back through time, as you read the names , you see names you recognize like David the son of Jesse, and Jacob the son of Issac, and Issac the son of Abraham, and Shem the son of Noah, and Noah the son of Methuselah (the oldest man that ever lived, he lived to be 969 year's old), and Enoch, who was taken up, it continues down the line to Seth the son of Adam, and ADAM THE SON OF GOD.  And when was Adam created?  On the sixth day!

So you either believe in the big bang theory, and God didn't create the earth in six days.  Or you believe what the Bible says, but you can't believe in both.  The Bible is the Word, and the Word is Truth.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" John 1:1.
