All You Need- Ephesians 3:20 January 6, 2020

I heard a pastor give a sermon on Ephesians 3:20.  "Now unto him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."  I broke this passage down using the Strong's Concordance and Hebrew/Greek Dictionaries.  In this verse the Strong's Concordance/ Greek Dictionary uses the word exceeding, not exceedingly.  The number is 5228.  I first found out that exceeding and the word above use the same number, and abundantly does not have a number.  So I think those three words are connected and have the same meaning.  So their definition means: straightforward, right, uprightness, integrity, equitable.

Now back to my Just Thinking and this sermon.  This pastor's sermon was about the words exceedingly and abundantly.  He will go to the letter Philippians 4:19, "But my God shall supply all your need."  The pastor said all your needs, and said it throughout his message.  I kept thinking the verse, Ephesians 3:20 is not about material needs or need, but about spiritual growth; to become more like Jesus, having all the spiritual gifts: Wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord, which is first of the gifts, but I put it last, to give it more emphasis.  I believe that gift is most important, because Proverbs 1:7 says, " the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."  The LORD is the Self-Existent One, Isaiah 11:1.  Paul had all of these gifts. I also kept thinking that you can't separate Ephesians Chapter 3, especially verses 13-19 from  3:20-21, and 4:1-3.  "the exceedingly abundantly of the riches of His (Jesus) glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man (man's spirit, soul).  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith (not need).  Understand Christian that you need to ask God the Father by faith to give you all the wisdom and understanding to get you through these trying  days. And to do His will.  If you are not in the Word, why would you expect God to supply you with anything. When you don't spend time with God, you are telling Him you don't want a relationship with Him. When I got saved all I wanted to do was read the Bible, and ask Him a lot of questions. Some seemed to get answered right away, and some took twenty-five or more years to be answered. It's like going on a diet. In the beginning it's agonizing and most won't stick to it.  But those that do eventually, they find themselves feeling better, looking better and healthier. God will allow you to go through long-suffering and tribulations. Tests, they only make you stronger in the LORD.

So Paul is speaking to the saints or believers in Jesus (not the dead saints). He prays for the saints in verses 3:14-19, Paul wants us to be filled with the fullness of God; to be a prisoner of the LORD, not a prisoner of the world (of worldly things). I didn't get any of this from that Pastor's message. Maybe I'm wrong. Just remember this, exceedingly, abundantly, and above, in Ephesians 3:20 are connected, and our goal in life is to be fully controlled by God. Don't worry about your need, God will provide all your need ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY by Jesus Christ, Phil. 4:19.
So, Ephesians 3:20, "Now unto him who is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE all that we ask or think, to the power that worketh in us".  You can read it as, Now unto him who is STRAIGHTFORWARD, UPRIGHT, DOING THE RIGHT THING of all that we ask or think, to the power that worketh in  us. "To Him be glory in the church by Jesus Christ throughout the ages, world without end. You don't have to try to fix anything in this world. God is handling it. Prejudice is not leaving this earth until God gets rid of it.  Amen!
