Pestilence ~ March 20, 2004
Why Pestilence? I opened my Bible, in it was a piece of paper with the definition of the word pestilence. I thought of Matthew 24 :7. The definition of pestilence is: 1. Any widespread infectious malady,2. A dangerous or harmful doctrine, influence, etc. Interesting. The word pestilence is not just a disease or plague of illnesses. In today's world we have all kinds of doctrine, and what scares me most is the influences of tolerance, and high self-esteem. These pestilences are in the church today. I just heard Dr. Dobson on the radio talking about Christians having low self-esteem, and a man on his show wrote a book about husbands helping their wives battling with low self-esteem. I turned the radio off, because God says that Christians should be humble, meek, not have a high self-esteem all throughout the Bible (Proverbs 15:33, 16:19, Isaiah 57:15, I Peter 5:5-9, to name a few places).
In the last days people will be looking here and there for God's true word and never finding it. God told Daniel to seal up the book till the time of the end in Dan.12:4. The beginning of the time of the end is here my Christian friends, so put on the armor of God, spoken of by Paul in Ephesians Chapter 6. There is a pestilence in the world, a harmful influence on adults, and they are teaching it to their children and grandchildren. This doctrine is horrible. It is so close to God's word. It starts out saying that God has blessed us with riches and a great land we live in, so we can do anything that seems good in our mind. We are His chosen!
There is a small famine in this land that is growing. No one seems to see. It's not food, though that's coming too. What is missing in this horrible doctrine is a relationship with God. A true, Biblical relationship with God. There is a false relationship out there that says that all you have to do is to say "the prayer". You know that prayer, all you have to do is tell God to save you from your sins, then go about your daily life. You don't have to read the Bible, just go to church once in a while, God is good and full of grace and mercy. He will forgive me of my sins because I said "the prayer". Many have this infection that is increasing.
In the Book of Amos, God says in 8:11-12, "Behold the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, no a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD; 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it."
If you are one today who has not truly repented, and asked Jesus to truly save you, a sinner from your heart and change your evil wicked ways, I suggest you do it now. Get a Bible and start studying it, asking Jesus to show you where to go in the Bible and have a relationship with Him and the Father. Time is short and it's getting harder and harder to find the true word of God. Mankind is looking for world knowledge. Their religion is the religion of science and technology. Time is short.
"For nations shall rise against nations, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows"
Matthew 24:7-8
